When you reach the spikes along the pathway, look up! The governor’s mansion is located just above you on the left side. This building is grey and white, similar to the tourism company. You might see this building later on in the tour if you decide to take a photo on the street with umbrellas (the umbrellas change for different holidays/ seasons/ awareness’s). This will be located on the front side of the governors mansion.
What did you think the purpose of the spikes were when you arrived to this location? Are they a part of the forts defense system or replicas of something of this nature? No! This is actually an art piece. The spikes resemble the ups and downs the Puerto Rican’s have endured through the changes of power over time.
